Our Clay Bodies & Glaze Information
At Rose Line Pottery, we take great pride in the materials we use to craft each piece. Our pottery is made with two distinct clay bodies, each chosen for its unique characteristics and ability to enhance the beauty of the finished pieces. Here's an overview of the clay bodies and glazes we use, along with some care tips for ensuring your pieces last a lifetime.
Dark Stoneware Clay Body
Our dark stoneware clay body is fired to a temperature of 2232°F (cone 6). This clay is rich in manganese and iron, which gives it its beautiful, deep color. Due to the high mineral content, each piece has a unique finish—there may be slight variations in both the clay surface and the glaze application. These subtle differences add to the character and charm of every piece, making no two identical.
Please keep in mind that these natural variations are part of the handmade process and contribute to the one-of-a-kind quality of our pottery.
White Stoneware Clay Body
The second clay body we use is a white stoneware clay, also fired to cone 6 (2232°F). This smooth, light-colored clay provides a clean canvas for our glazes, offering a sleek and modern finish that pairs beautifully with a variety of glaze options.
Our Glazes
All of our glazes are carefully formulated to be food-safe, microwave-safe, and lead-free, so you can use them with confidence in your daily life. We prioritize safety and quality in every step of our production process to ensure that our pieces are as functional as they are beautiful.
Raw Clay Exposed
Some of our pieces feature raw clay exposed on the surface. This technique showcases the natural beauty and texture of the clay. Rest assured, the raw clay is fully safe to drink or eat from and is durable enough to stand up to everyday use.
Durability & Care
Our pottery is made to last a lifetime with proper care. While our pieces are designed to be durable and functional, we recommend hand-washing where possible to preserve the integrity of the glaze and clay. Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g., from hot to cold) to prevent thermal shock.
Thank you for supporting our handmade ceramics! Each piece is a labor of love, and we hope it brings beauty and functionality to your life for many years to come.
